Lors de la bataille parlementaire sur la révision constitutionnelle portant sur le mode de scrutin des présidentielles, le KSCM avait tenté de faire rejeter l'amendement constitutionnel.
C'est ce qui peut expliquer la position du parti sur cette élection.
